About Me

AT YOUR SERVICE

Ann Gore, a native Houstonian, is an accomplished performer who began piano studies at the age of six. She holds a Bachelor of Music in Piano Performance from the University of Texas at Austin, where she studied with the renowned Dr. Lita Guerra under a Presidential Scholarship. Since then she has pursued additional studies with Malinee Peris. In addition to solo piano performance, Ms. Gore frequently performs in chamber music ensembles and has been under the tutelage of the Miro Quartet.

Ms. Gore has over 10 years of piano teaching experience and has taught students of all ages and levels in Houston, Austin, Washington, D.C., and Beijing. She currently teaches at the Awty International School and privately. As a member of the Music Teacher National Association and Houston Music Teacher Association, she offers her students the chance to participate in competitions and festivals.

In addition to piano, Ms. Gore is an accomplished violinist, having performed in numerous ensembles and orchestras. She is currently a First Violin in the Houston Civic Symphony.

While music is her first love, Ms. Gore has also pursued an interest in international affairs and Chinese language and culture. Achievements in this area include BA and MA degrees as well as Fulbright and Yale Law School research fellowships.

In case of student sickness, lessons can be held virtually at the same lesson time or rescheduled. Lessons missed by the teacher will be made up at a mutually convenient time.

BOOKS AND MATERIALS

I will select and can help order the appropriate books and materials for each student if needed. Most beginners will start with a method book that will be supplemented with classical and technical books as they progress.

Adult beginners may also choose to begin with a method book and start with proper technique. I'm happy to teach any genre of music to help you reach your musical goals.
